The Fusible-Link Method is a torch-driven form of hot-gas fusion welding for thermoplastics. It follows the same science recognized in DVS/AWS standards: melt the substrate and matching filler, control temperature, pressure, and travel, and you get a diffusion bond. Nitrogen can reduce oxidation, but properly controlled air/open-flame heating also produces strong welds; the key is technique. For reshaping, we apply controlled heat into the material’s softening/forming window to relax residual stress (“memory”) and set the corrected geometry on cool-down.
testing plastic fusion limits for training, when i broke out the “BFH” student got real nervous, but trust the process!
