Our base training consists of 4 main sections:
1) Identification/damage assessment/ adhesive repairs
2) Heat shaping
3) Nitrogen plastic welding
4) Fusible-Link micro torch fusion welding*
*available in small groups or extra days for large groups
Learning is different for all students, some excel fast while others take more time. So we let the group control the flow of learning to a degree.
If the group is excelling then we proceed faster and cover more real world challenges. There is only so much we can cover in the 3 day training. Students that excel at the initial training are recommended a follow up training secession a couple months down the road to ensure they have had time to use and apply the initial knowledge. These revisits typically Range 1-3 days To revisit and expand the knowledge needed to excel at plastic repairs.
The initial training consists of 3 days. Students will each receive a packet of resources and a workbook to complement the training. We cover the four main topics: Adhesive repairs, Heat shaping, Nitrogen welding, and Fusible-Link micro torch welding. Within these topics we explore a wide list of subtopics like identification, damage assessment, ADAS limitations, proper PPE usage, finishing the repair and many real world scenarios when fixing plastic.
At the end of the 3 day course, students that complete all criteria will receive a Training Participation Acknowledgment document to show they have done the training.
Likewise any shop with at least one student completing the training will receive a Training Participation Recognition document.
while completion of training does not guarantee every student will excel at plastic repairs, we will do everything possible to give every student the tools for success, where they go with that falls on organization leadership. The journey requires support from shop leaders to be successful. identifying plastic repair opportunities can be tough to navigate fresh out of training. techs should be encouraged to attempt every repair possible. This will gain them the confidence and experience needed to preform at the highest level.

This is awarded to students at the completion of training to show they have had proper training and are ready to do quality plastic repairs

Additionally each shop that has a student complete this training course will receive their own training certificate of recognition. This is a strong signal to insurance partners that your organization is ready to handle every aspect of modern repairs, not just the metal.

The most widely accepted form of plastic repair. This builds a foundation for the rest of the learning. Most weld areas will require the use of flexible adhesive filler to correct the surface for paint. So covering this topic is the first key point
The First step in any repair is to correct deformation. This can be achieved through the proper use of heat. The Fusible-Link method applies this principle to practical plastic reshaping technics that can overcome most instances of minor stretching and deformation.
Nitrogen plastic welding is the newest repair science to be widely accepted due to its ability to fuse just about anything together. This opens the door for welding cracks and tares, fixing tabs, replacing sections of parts missing, reattaching plastic brackets. The possibilities are only limited to the creativity of the repairer. When done right, nitrogen repairs will be comparable to original strength
This is The Fusible Link Method of fusion repairs. We explore the existing science to find a different approach to plastic welding. The results are stronger more consistent bonds in a fraction of the time. The intensity of the jetted butane flame allows for faster welding with a higher bonding rate. This is a must when doing one sided repairs that cannot be supported on the back. a speedy weld will avoid warping of repair area.
